VIJAYAWADA: Backward Classes Commission chairman Justice K.L. Manjunadha unveiled a road map for his assignment on inclusion of Kapus in the BC list at a meeting here on Thursday.
The meeting was attended by the commission members: Professor Venkateswara Subramanyam, Professor Mallela Purnachandra Rao, Professor Srimanthula Satyanarayana and A. Krishnamohan, member secretary.
Justice Manjunadha said that the commission would shortly release a schedule on public hearings in various districts shortly eliciting feedback from different sections who include the claimants seeking the BC status or those intending to effect changes in the lists. He said notification on schedules would be published in the media shortly for the convenience of stakeholders to interact with the commission.
In this direction, a short pulse survey (SPS) will be conducted involving the official machinery from the department of BC welfare, he added. The justice held discussions on the SPS with Praveen Kumar, principal secretary, department of BC Welfare, and J. Satyanarayana, advisor on Information Technology to government of Andhra Pradesh.
The commission has included the criteria and various parameters in the survey form which is required to be followed in the process of household surveys to take stock of social, educational and economic backwardness of the communities in the state for considering the claims of the other castes seeking BC status, he explained.
